Over 400 Pepsi Volunteers Help Out Brigada Eskwela 2017

June 02, 2017
In 2017, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) gathered 439 of its company volunteers nationwide to support the annual Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education. Called the Bukluran Volunteers, these men and women of Pepsi swap their usual work equipment with paintbrushes, brooms, dustpans, and more to help clean up and prepare 22 public elementary schools for the incoming batch of students this year.

“We have been doing this as a coordinated effort for all of our 13 plants since 2015 and it has been a continuing mark of pride for us when we gather the results of our yearly efforts. This year we were able to help more schools, from 20 last year, and this has helped us deliver 2,248 total volunteer hours - up by 60 hours compared to last year’s total. What this means is that we were able to clean, repair, repaint 36 classrooms; 834 chairs, tables, and bookshelves; and school grounds approximately the size of 3,500 square meter area, “ shares Pepsi Vice President Jika Dalupan.

In addition, the Bukluran volunteers were also able to provide free school supplies, haircuts, cleaning and building materials, like brooms, plywood, and cement that the school can use for the whole year; also, even ceiling fans for the comfort of the young learners.
“We do this every year because we know what we are part of the solution in creating the learning environment that will help children succeed in their studies.
