Pepsi volunteerism in action - A Pepsi volunteer from Bacolod City works on a worn-out school desk to make it look brand new again as part of the company’s nationwide support for this year’s Brigada Eskwela program. Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. (PCPPI) manifested anew its vigorous support to the annual Brigada Eskwela program being spearheaded by the Department of Education (DepEd) by deploying 422 “Bukluran” volunteers coming from the firm’s rank and file to help enhance the learning environment of at least 20 public elementary schools nationwide. The volunteers were cited for cleaning and repainting some 60 classrooms and the repair of over 1,200 school chairs and tables. They also gave away sanitary items such as brooms, trash cans, and doormats, as well as school supplies including notebooks and bags. “Our volunteers have shared a total of 2,188 hours helping the teachers, parents, and students of our public elementary schools to be safer, cleaner, and ready for the new school year. By championing the spirit of volunteerism within PCPPI through our Bukluran Councils, we see a real passion for service emerge across our employees, benefiting the communities where we are present,” said PCPPI vice president for corporate affairs and communications Jika Dalupan.
